Trekking Guides Demanded To Provide Relief Package

   

Kathmandu, June 12: Officials of the Trekking Guide Association of Nepal have demanded relief for 35,000 trekking guides who lost their jobs after the lockdown to prevent coronavirus. They have reached the office of Nepal Tourism Board on Friday and submitted their demand letter.

Sarki Sherpa, general secretary of the association, said that a concessional loan of Rs 10 to 15 lakh per person should be provided until the tourism business is running smoothly. He said that now all the pioneers have become unemployed and there is a problem in running their daily livelihood.

He also demanded to provide necessary training to the trekking guides and all the workers working in the field and make arrangements to include them in the social security fund. The pioneers have also demanded to clarify the role of pioneers in the Tourism Bill 2077 BS.

They have also demanded to provide relief to the workers working in the tourism sector.
