326 mountains ranging from 5 thousand to 8 thousand 848.68 meters are open for climbing
Kathmandu - The salutation fee paid by foreigners while climbing Mount Everest will be increased from 11 thousand US dollars (14 lakh 63 thousand) to 20 thousand US dollars (26 lakhs 60 thousand) per climber.

By revising some regulations including the mountain climbing fee issued by the tourism department 7 years ago, the highest interest expressed among the tourism professionals around the world, the climbing fee of Mount Everest is about to be increased to around two million.
The department has started the work of revising the regulations related to mountain climbing along with the regulations. Chakra Bahadur Budha, director general of the department, said that the draft of the regulation has reached the Ministry of Law. "The financial opinion has been received," Director General Budha said.
Nepal has opened 326 mountains ranging from 5 thousand to 8 thousand 848.68 meters for climbing. According to the department, after the new regulations are passed, the salami customs of other mountains will also be increased. At present, the mountains operated by the department are opened for climbing four seasons a year, in which Nepalese and foreigners are charged different salami customs. Nepali climbers have to pay 75,000 rupees salami fee during the spring season to climb Mount Everest.
Nepali climbers reach the mountains below 6500 meters by paying a minimum of 4 thousand rupees. Foreigners have to pay 250 dollars for mountains below 6500 meters. During the recently concluded winter season, the department collected 76.66 million rupees from 52 mountain climbing permits. Earlier this season, during the spring season, the department had collected 765.7 million rupees in salami dues when climbing 28 mountains was allowed.
